It has been raining today. I love the rain. The trees seem to come out alive and the birds sing out their merry tunes. You can smell the wet earth. I love where I work. The atmosphere is priceless.

For lack of better things to do today...
I was lanky as a kid. Perhaps I have good posture so people tend to think I was taller than I really am. I was not into clothes nor make-up when I was a teenager. But I was surprised a few months ago when an old schoolmate declared that she was jealous of me then as I was pretty and smart.. smart OK but pretty??? ..what a boost to my ego. Honestly, I was not into boys but I do have boys as friends. I was more of a groupie, (the idea of cheerleaders being foreign) a group of us would cheer the boys in their games. Things were not much better as I took up civil engineering at university. The boys were buddies, you dont fall in love your friends..yikes!! Plus the boys would rather chase after the would-be teachers or secretaries. Somehow, things always seem to come easy for me. School, uni., grades good enough to receive a scholarship to US and UK. Friends come and go freely, boyfriends when I was ready, hubby when it was timely, kids i'm blessed with 3.
So if I'm not exactly happy now, maybe it is pay back time?

Today I received a surprise. Distant relatives on my mother's side visited my organisation. I didn't know of the visit. They were part of the Persatuan Peladang - Farmers Association of Pulau Tioman. I hardly knew them, but knowing that they knew my late mom, I was misty eyed. They were my mom's second cousins mostly from Air Batang and Salang. It was a colleague that called me saying that an old man named Kadir from Tioman `kirim salam' (sent his regards). They had already been briefed and were already on their way home. I'm glad I managed to catch up. Took all 40 (the bus load) to the cafeteria for lunch.
I miss my mom .

World Expo Aichi Japan
I was in Aichi to man the Malaysian Pavillion from 17 March to 24th April 2005. I wasn't expecting the weather to be so cold when I arrived. In fact there was flurries on the opening day. It wasn't a help that there was no central heating. I was sorely handicapped as I do not speak japanese and most japanese do not speak english. It was very frustrating. We had to rely on Malaysian students from the Nagoya area. Was fortunate to experience the `cherry blossom'. So beautiful yet so fleeting. Most japanese visit the expo as a family unit. It was great to see young families with toddlers, older couples in groups, teenagers in school uniforms. True to form, the girls are cute in their short skirts and big bags. Reminded me of the cartoon series Sailormoon my daughters love to watch.

Today I decide to reminisce. Was looking at the pictures taken with my first digital camera, the Nikon 3500. Bought it in 2003. The picture quality is iffy. One of the first pictures I took were of the merdeka celebration. It was the first time ever that I brought the kids to see what the hoo-haa was all about. There was hardly breathing space at KLCC and the situation was not much better outside. I guess it all boils down to the fact that I was too old and the kids were too young. The average age group there (at least where I was standing) was probably 17-21. Since then, we only celebrate merdeka in the comfort of our own home. 2003 also saw the first time we visited Cameron Highlands. It was a wet visit. It rained continuously while we were there. We were relieved there were no landslides. The year 2003 saw another addition to the Nordin brood, Sofian Daniel Sulaiman. Born on 25 September.

My first input
I am wishing welcome to myself. Too many things had happened that had affected me and somehow has affected how I see things and view myself. I am trying to capture the reason for my being. Adam, Ain and Lily.
