Pssst!!! it's a secret

messy filing
Quick account stats: You have 24 entries and 87 fotos
Account Storage stats: You are using 98.28% (24.57MB out of 25MB) of your personal storage

I'm running out of space allowed by fotopages. With this entry I think it will be my last. I've enjoyed putting thoughts to paper (virtual tho' it may be) and sharing pictures. Initially I wanted it to be a secret, a way to vent my feelings but along the way, i've shared it with friends and the occasional enemy. The secret is no secret anymore.

Sometimes a secret gets too heavy for us to bear alone. The virtual world is a safe place to let out and rant. !

What are the secrets stashed in my office stuffed in a big yellow envelope and a bigger black file.

Lunch date

18 years as husband and wife
Adam, Ain, Lily and I met up with Mior at the Bangsar Shopping Centre for a lunch date yesterday. I took the afternoon off. We had a nice japanese lunch at one of the restaurants there. Though harried, it was a nice anniversary do. After all, it is the kids that provide the reason for parents to work that much harder to ensure the family unit stay intact.

Anniversary

Not ours but Mior's cousin, Zila
At this time 18 years ago, I was solemnised in marriage. Time flies so fast. We have had our fair share of rough patches. The first ten years were plain sailing, the next five years we met with choppy waters sometimes so turbulent I was ready to throw in the towel. The last three years the sea calmed again. Scars remain but with time hopefully they will fade.

My wish is to one day,go back to Hartford Connecticut the place where we met, once again go cross country via New York, Memphis, Dallas, stopover at Grand Canyon and Las Vegas, making a brief stop across the border to Tijuana enroute to LA and San Francisco. Rememember Pa?

We agreed on Lily as soon as we knew we were going to have a daughter. I wanted Athena as her second name (goddess of wisdom) but hubby felt the malay sounding Hena was not auspicious (I was more focussed on the first syllable Athe as it rhymes with Ati, a name I call myself). So I compromised on Alyssa (rational/logical). And true enough my Lily Alyssa is a sweet girl with a clever head on her shoulders. She's top 3 in the best class, active in cultural activities as well as athletics, a prefect and quite a good swimmer too. She's 10.

Harap-harap berkekalan, as she enters her teenage years. (Written in blue her favourite colour)

Fi Fie Foe Friend

Form 2A SETA JB 76
Form 5 Science 1, Kluang High Sch 79
Our group include Datuk Halimah Sadique (far right)
Can you count the number of friends you have? As I look around me, I can count less than a handfull. A university friend recently mentioned `You were a loner’. Perhaps. At any one time I would have one or two close friends. But even these friends cannot withstand the test of time. We would part ways once we finish school, university or even move to another unit at work. How many friends do I have now? Frankly speaking none. How about enemies? Have I accumulated any? Perhaps.

Where are these old school-mates now, who used to grace the path to adulthood.

By-laws for in-laws

Mak and Apak in law
I am so frustrated. Nothing I do seems enough or appreciated. I am not expecting gushing words of thanks but a nod or better still a smile would do. When you do not speak you are aloof, when you do speak you are misintepreted. Feelings get hurt and you ended up guilt ridden.Serba tak kena. My patience is tested and I have to bear and grin.

I have always got along famously with my father in law. In fact I think my mother in law was a bit envious of this camaraderie and easy going chatter we share (I'm the only daughter in law). But now that he is gone, there is no person that acts as `go-between'. I need to reach out to her, comfort her and provide the strength in her time of need and sadness.

But if the chasm was there all along, how I can cross over if the bridge is gone?

we do the best we can. sometimes a smile is more than enough. we can never control others' thoughts or actions. suffice to simply be your good self w'out any pretentions... Tue 18-Apr-2006 10:42

Touching base

The Selangor Team at MSSM March 2006. We came in 3rd
The family in Penang doing the tourist rounds in Chowrasta
Ain' Lily & papa. I'm the only one in the family that can't sing
It has been a hectic first quarter of 2006. I had hardly time to breathe as there were too many deadlines to meet. But I thrive on that. The adrenalin rush once a job gets done.Lots of things happened between January and March. How time flies. It has been more than 4 months since my last entry. Last friday I needed time out from all the paper work and decided to look for old friends. I mean really OLD, UTM mates. I searched the site for Yahya Ani. There was one name listed in Pahang... Is that him? One of my few buddies? Found the DKA81 yahoo group. Good news is that I managed to find Da, (Haslida Jaafar) and managed to talk to her after all these years. I'm sure she is still the cute petit Da. We made promises to meet. Will we?

On the home front, tomorrow Ain will perform the nasyid at Masjid Al Mukarramah Bandar Sri D'sara to celebrate Maulid. She's the lead singer. Tgk lah besok macam mana. Opah dia pun nak pi tgk. This morning went to see Adam. I was sad that 7 form 5 boys were expelled from school. Its already April and the school has the heart to expell them? I know those boys. I see them grow from awkward 13 years olds to the young 17yo men they are now. I go where the SAS rugby team goes and most of the expelled boys were Rugby players. Some even played for the school/ Selangor. I am very sad. Those boys were like my sons too. If I feel miserable.. how do you think their parents feel.
